Conversion therapy: £71,000 helpline had four calls

The Scottish government paid almost £72,000 of taxpayer money last year on a conversion therapy helpline that only received four calls over three months, official data has shown.

According to a Freedom of Information request made by The Christian Institute, the government paid £71,996 to LGBT Health and Wellbeing in 2025, to fund the helpline.

Between October and December, the line was contacted only four times, and it is unclear whether these were separate cases or contact made by the same individual. The Government could not provide figures for the remainder of the year, according to The Christian Institute.
