The EasyEnglish Bible has been published in print in the UK for the first time.
Produced by the charity MissionAssist and written in simple language, the EasyEnglish Bible is designed for those whose first language is not English or who struggle to read, such as those with dyslexia.
Most of the vocabulary is taken from a bank of 1,000 simple words, and sentences are limited to 20 words. For example, while John 3v16 in the NIV version reads: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”, the EasyEnglish version translates this more simply as: “God loved the people in this world so much that he gave his only Son. He did this so that anyone who believes in the Son will not die. Instead, they will have life that lasts forever.”
