Q Manivannan, one of the first transgender MSPs to be elected to the Scottish Parliament, has put forward a motion in Holyrood calling for a ban on “conversion practices”.
“Legislation in this area is not about outlawing genuine abuse – since that is already illegal,” said Joanna Timm, Senior Public Affairs Office at the Christian Institute.
“Q Manivannan wants a broad conversion therapy ban. It would prevent parents from guiding their children on matters of sexuality and gender, and criminalise Christians for upholding Biblical sexual ethics in their prayers and conversations.”
Scottish writer Jenny Lindsay wrote in The Scotsman that gender self-ID and conversion therapy bans “are two of the most common ways gender ideology has successfully captured parliaments in countless countries this past 15 years.”
