A local ministry for Christian grandparents at a Northamptonshire church has expanded into a national group.
And it will hold the first national conference for Christian grandparents this autumn.
Five years ago, Moulton Parish Church in Northamptonshire started its grandparenting ministry, to encourage Christian grandparents in supporting younger generations navigating today’s challenging culture.
It has since spawned a devotional book as well as a website with practical guidance for churches wishing to create grandparenting groups, supported by prayer resources, webinars and networking opportunities.
The first national Christian Grandparenting Conference will be held in October, in Milton Keynes, attended by organisations aiming to help grandparents encourage younger generations in their spiritual walk.
Among the speakers will be Olly and Helen Goldenberg, founders of the organisation Children Can, which aims to help churches and families around the world “disciple the next generation”.
Martyn Thompson, the leader of the ministry, explained that grandparents now feel a “deep concern” for younger generations and that churches are recognising the value of Christian grandparenting in ministry.
