Christlike worship leaders?

Can you imagine what the sung worship in your church could feel like in a year’s time if your sung worship leader invests in growing in Christlike character, deepening their theological convictions and gaining practical skills in leading others to sing? Crosslands’ new Music As Ministry Foundations course is aiming to equip musicians and sung worship leaders in local churches in just those three endeavours. Across the nine units, it explores the importance of our heart attitudes, helps us see God’s purpose in our gatherings, encourages us to think pastorally about leading sung worship, and provides a foundation upon which to grow in practical skills to serve in the local church. I have benefitted hugely from being a Crosslands student myself on the seminary programme, and this course aims to take the same Biblically-rooted, generous and holistic approach to training as I enjoyed (and continue to benefit from).

Full disclosure: I had a hand in writing this Foundations course. It has come out of years of materials prepared for my own church and for other settings, and it is trying to be a first step in equipping sung worship leaders who are faithfully serving away in their churches and crying out for resources to help them grow.
