Vaughan Roberts uses this book to expand on the short talk he gave on identity and sexuality to the Lausanne Congress in Seoul in 2024.
Although aimed at an international audience, he uses his pastoral experience to navigate the twin perils in the global church of downplaying sexual sin (mostly the West) or treating it excessively severely and driving it underground (mostly the “Majority World”). He summarises the Biblical position as God is for sex; sex is for marriage; marriage is for life; life is for Christ. Sin has marred God’s great gift, but it can be redeemed by Christ and a heart changed by the Holy Spirit. It is therefore a helpful cross-cultural introduction to issues of sexuality for all Christians and those who pastor them.
