Learning to lead in music

For the first time ever, the 9:38 Maximise Conference will have a new stream for music leaders and service leaders.

Maximise has a long-standing commitment to equipping ministry trainees and others considering their next steps in gospel ministry with foundational Bible-teaching skills. Now, to complement this conviction, several other streams – including one for music leaders – are being launched at this year’s conference, and having once benefitted from Maximise myself (a few years ago now!) it will be my privilege to help equip these leaders-in-training on how to shape church services around the gospel.

Sharing wisdom

Instead of presenting a Bible talk for feedback, we’ll be asking attendees to present a service outline appropriate to their context, and we’ll be sharing wisdom on how to centre services around a theme and in a gospel shape.

Learning from generations before us, stretching back to the Reformation, we’ll uncover many diverse church traditions that have sought to walk us through the gospel in worship services. And we’ll explore how rehearsing the simple pattern of ‘God-Man-Christ-Response’ in our services – and tailoring that shape to our church’s own expressions of worship – can be of huge spiritual benefit to the church in our care.
