Andrew Carey, the former editor of The Church of England Newspaper (CEN), and son of former Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey, has died.

He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Carey was born in February 1966 and his home town was Bradworthy, Devon.

He leaves a wife Helen and three children Damara, Linus and Theo. The CEN was founded in 1828 as The Record but sadly ceased printing in 2025 after the death of its owner, Keith Young. Writing at the time, Carey said he hoped the CEN had supported an “evangelicalism which up until today, I hope, remains thoughtful, orthodox, resourceful and generous. This is needed more than ever today.”
