Tim Davies appointed as new Diocesan Bishop

Tim Davies is the new Diocesan Bishop for the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE), a GAFCON-aligned grouping outside the Church of England.

Andy Lines will continue in his roles as Diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Convocation Europe (ACE) and Presiding Bishop of the emerging province of the Anglican Network in Europe (ANiE), AMiE says. These are likewise not part of the CofE.

Website Anglican Futures explains the inter-relationship of these groupings in this way: “ANiE is an authentic expression of Anglican church life and mission, authorised and supported by the Archbishops of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).

“ANiE currently has two Convocations: ACE and AMiE. Each convocation maintains its own character; field of operation; and has its own constitution, canons and synod.”

ACE includes both “egalitarians” and “complementarians” whereas AMiE holds that “only men should be ordained as presbyters”.
