A service at Trinity Baptist Church in Croydon has been held in response to the unexpected closure of Spurgeon’s College after 169 years.
Taking place on 17 September, there were approximately 500 in attendance and at least another 500 tuning in online.
I have my own reasons for remembering and being thankful. I did my master’s and doctoral studies in preaching at Spurgeon’s College in the early 2000s and was an associate tutor in preaching from 2020 to 2025. I remember some formative teaching, wise and kind tutors and many friends who thrived in this lively learning community.
