    Christian Values in Education

More than 50 teens were among 300 attendees at this year’s national conference of Christian Values in Education.

The Christian Institute’s education officer John Denning spoke on the contrast between the Christian and progressive worldviews, giving advice on how to ensure schools did not exceed their authority. Author Sharon James spoke on worldviews in education and standing on Biblical truth – tracing the historical development of secular worldviews that challenge the Christian ethos. She said it is Christians’ long-standing commitment to education, and the truth of God’s word, that should give believers confidence in their Biblical worldview as they confront the challenge of other perspectives.

The High Court has refused to grant parents in Wales a temporary injunction preventing the start of new compulsory relationship and sex education (RSE) in school.

The judge said an injunction would cause substantial disruption and there was a ‘very strong public interest’ in implementing the curriculum from the start of the autumn term. A judicial review of the decision to roll out the new curriculum is due to be heard in November. The application was brought by Public Child Protection Wales, a group of parents and grandparents who are concerned that the curriculum will expose children to inappropriate themes and material from as young as three years old.
