An experienced Christian barrister is calling
for the police to help draw up a Street
Preachers’ Charter.
Paul Diamond, who has
represented
Christians in UK courts and at the European
Court, has formally asked the College of
Policing if he could work with officers on
a Charter to try to stop evangelists being
arrested and
then often released without
charge. It comes
in
the wake of
several
arrests of street preachers who subsequently
had
their fines overturned, prosecutions
withdrawn and won compensation.
