  • Argentina: death threats

    An Argentinian pastor subjected to death threats says his country is facing a fight to retain its religious freedom, it was reported in early May.

    Marcelo Nieva, 34, leader of Pueblo Grande Baptist Church in Río Tercero, a city in Argentina´s central Cordoba region, says the pressure on his church has increased following the introduction of a law last year that was supposed to safeguard religious freedom but that the pastor says is having the opposite effect.

    The April elected Premier of New South Wales, Liberal MP Mike Baird, is reported to be a committed Christian.

    Baird, 46, was elected unopposed. He attends an Anglican church in his electorate of Manly (a beachside suburb of Sydney). Bruce Clark, senior minister at St Matthew’s on the Corso, said that Baird is a strongly committed Christian man.
