In the heart of a busy village in Buckinghamshire, a group of book-loving believers gathered to celebrate all things Christian literature.
2025 saw The St Andrews Literature Festival – organised by the local bookshop of the same name – mark its second year. Hosted in Great Missenden, the home of Roald Dahl, the two-day event saw Christian authors come together to share insights about their faith, books, and writing processes.
Andrew Bray, Head of Sales at St Andrews Bookshop (the festival host), told en: “The vision for the festival was to bring together readers, writers, and publishers in a space where people could hear from favourite authors and discover new ones.”
This year’s festival saw the introduction of workshops. Attendees were able to do “bookcraft” (upcycling unwanted books into hedgehogs!) and even a drawing workshop with Christian artist Micah Hayns (pictured), where participants were taught how to draw a bird.
Hayns had an exhibition at the festival, showcasing his artwork based on the Psalms. Speaking of what inspired him to create in this way, Hayns told en: “Verses like ‘I rise on the wings of the dawn’ in Psalm 139 were an initial inspiration, as they brought up vivid, beautiful images in my mind.”
