Humanitarian champion Baroness Caroline Cox has paid tribute to the work of Christian international children’s charity Global Care (GC), on the occasion of the charity’s 30th anniversary in November.
Baroness Cox was acquainted with GC’s founder Ron Newby, whom she describes as ‘one of my heroes’ and agreed to become a patron of GC early in the charity’s 30-year history.
In an interview to mark GC’s anniversary year, Baroness Cox said she believes small organisations like GC have a significant role to play in relief and development work, because of their commitment to working with local partners, whom she described as ‘mustard seed people’.
Phenomenal ministry
Baroness Cox said: ‘I believe this is the way forward for this kind of aid and development work. Not necessarily to put a big team on the ground, but finding local people, people making a difference to their own people, working in partnership.
‘GC is a phenomenal ministry in 18 countries, working with vulnerable children, transforming their lives through local people, for local people, with local people. May God bless Global Care and its immensely important and inspirational ministry over these 30 years, and for the next 30 years to come.’
