I am fascinated by biographies anyway, especially of Christian heroes who have risked their lives for the cause of Christ. But I never expected to be reading the autobiography of a man who was my pastor for some years, and it’s been an absolute delight, if a little unnerving at times.
For instance, when reading of a particularly stressful time as pastor of our church, located in a Yorkshire mining village, I hoped I hadn’t added to the pressure he was feeling at the time. I possibly did, but I must say that he was a wonderful, caring shepherd who encouraged me enormously.
