Sometimes I think Christmas books devote more space to following the star than following Christ, and children go away knowing more about what the donkey did than what God accomplished by sending His Son!

So, I would like to introduce you to some children’s titles that tell the “old, old story of Jesus and His love”. None of these books will break the bank, but they are all of high quality, making them ideal for presents.

Some of these I’ve received copies of – I’m waiting for others to arrive.

First up is Promises Kept – A Family Devotional for Christmas. This book shows families how the birth and life of Jesus fulfilled God’s Old Testament promises of a Saviour. I’ve read other books in this series and love Marty Machowski’s previous children’s books. So, though I haven’t got my copy yet, I’m confident in this publisher and author combo. Age range 5–11 (ISBN 978 1 645 074 151).

The Best News of All – A Christmas Bible Verse to Remember. This book helps children remember the angel’s announcement to the shepherds in Luke 2v10-11: “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.” Again, Sally Michaels is a writer that you should have on your favourites list. She is someone you can trust to teach children solid Biblical truth. Age range 4–7 (ISBN 978 1 645 074 816).

The Most Special Christmas Night. I received a copy of this book and was delighted with the contents. It retells Jesus’s birth story with amazing Bible Infographics that teach fantastic faith-building facts. A perfect book for pre-schoolers that teaches them more than just a story (ISBN 978 1 837 280 537).

Also I have ordered a copy of Alison Mitchell’s book All about Christmas. Over 100 Amazing Facts behind the Christmas Story. Kids 7–10 will love this fun and fascinating book bursting with facts about Christmas and with colourful photography (ISBN 978 1 784 987 763).

Mary’s Christmas Journey is the timeless story of Jesus’ birth brought to life through the eyes of Mary, His mother. As you journey alongside Mary, you discover the truth of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. Age range 8–11 (ISBN 978 1 527 112 148).

A Bible Christmas – Jesus from A-Z. This book introduces young readers to the true meaning of Christmas through a creative alphabet-based storytelling approach (ISBN 978 1 527 112 131).
