Helen Thorne-Allenson is right about conspiracy theories (see en article here), and especially right that we should try to protect “believers” from isolating themselves. “It is the act of casting out that makes the outcast”, as C.P. Snow so wisely said.
Is it also possible that the line between faith and superstition is not always as clear as it could be? We should by now have learned from Adam Smith (1723–1790) that very simple rules of behaviour can produce the appearance of conspiracy, especially in social insects (Prov. 6v6-8, 30v24-28), but also in humans. Practical wisdom is also part of the Christian life.
