The Lordship of Christ

Dear Sir,

In his response to my review (en July), Joe Boot states: ‘Lusk… objects to the Lordship of Christ.’ Of course as an evangelical (not ‘anabaptist’) ‘activist’ I fully accept and honour the Lordship of Christ in all spheres of life (Rom. 10:9, 1 Cor. 8:6, etc). My analysis, from Scripture and church history, is that Theocracy (in politics) is idolatory.

Our Lord Jesus does not ask 21st-century believers to pursue the re-sacralisation of the state. I am happy to defend that view in any forum. Some – including many fellow evangelicals – take an opposite view, and I respect their position. I know many readers are ‘turned off’ by discussion of Christianity and politics, so, for those wishing to join me in looking further, may I refer to more discussion on www.thejcan.org.
