On BBC Radio 4 last November, Lord Richard Harries, a former Bishop of Oxford, said that he favoured the inclusion of readings from the Qur’an in our coronation service.
The Qur’an teaches that Jesus Christ is not the Son of God (Sura 4.171), and Christianity is based on something that did not happen, i.e. the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Sura 4.157).
If, therefore, our next coronation service retains its centuries-old Christian nature, and readings from the Qur’an are included in this service, a ludicrous situation will arise during the service when the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Monarch uphold the truth of the Christian religion, while someone else, presumably a Muslim, reads from the Qur’an, which teaches the Christian religion is based on a myth.
