The number of appeals for donations from
Christian organisations has become a deluge.
Moreover, advertisements are larger, the tone
of letters and leaflets more shrill and magazines and newsletters more lavish.
Yet the pool of those of us who support,
financially and by prayer, the work of God is
more or
less
limited to what I can only
describe as committed Christians in the richer countries of the world. In effect, therefore,
each organisation is seeking to increase its
‘market share’ at the expense of the rest.
