A Christian camp located in the region of Madrid, where officials say the wildfires raging this summer are the worst they’ve experienced, is still standing.
Pinos Reales, part of Evangelismo en Acción (Evangelism in Action), is a Christian camp and retreat centre which was established in 1974. However, situated 70km from Madrid, the ministry has been facing the possibility of destruction with devastating wildfires spreading across Spain and other parts of Europe this summer.
Despite the force of the fires in the region, camp coordinator Ana María Huck Vangioni told Protestante Digital, a Spanish news website, that photos taken of the camp show several of its buildings unscathed despite flames almost reaching their doorsteps.
“Those photos are just a small selection with which we want, above all, to emphasise God’s care and favour”, Vangioni said.
“In the face of so much destruction caused by the fire, even though it entered the Pinos Reales site, God has allowed us to escape the flames. Although it has affected many pine trees and vegetation, which will regenerate naturally, it has not affected the buildings. Isn’t that a miracle?”
