William Taylor encourages Kenyans to stay Rooted

For the past six years, the annual Rooted Conference has served as an important gathering of believers here in Kenya in that it provides a chance for many of our church members to gather and feast on the gospel.

This conference, which is held annually, centres its vision on the apostle Paul’s exhortation that is found in Colossians 2 v6-7: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness”.

The primary objective of the Rooted Conference is threefold: to encourage one another in our shared faith; to deepen our collective theological understanding of the gospel; and to foster a robust sense of community among believers here in Nairobi. Each year, the event draws a diverse group of participants, including members from various partnering churches and many invited believers from the wider local community.

A significant highlight of recent years has been our growing international partnerships, particularly with churches in the UK. We have been privileged to host a few guest speakers who encourage us to keep rejoicing and standing firm in the gospel. In 2025, we had Richard Coekin of Dundonald Church as the main expositor and he greatly helped us to behold the Saviour on the cross from Mark’s Gospel. This year, we partnered with William Taylor of St Helen’s Bishopsgate who preached for us from the book of Galatians. We are grateful to God for these partnerships, and all the encouragement this has brought to many here, including the reminder that the gospel unites believers from all over the world.

Beyond the main sessions, the conference provides delegates with a variety of workshops and seminars designed to equip and encourage them in their daily walk with the Lord. Our prayer is that this Conference will continue to flourish and that many will be refreshed each year, as we learn the Word together.
