The first-ever Pastor Seminar delivered exclusively in the Shona language was delivered in Gutu, a rural village south of Harare in the Autumn.
The 16 people who attended the training in Gutu contributed towards the costs of the training by providing the trainer with maize and sorghum (a cereal crop) for him to sell on his return to Harare.
The attendees made significant progress in just three days, and hugely appreciated being trained in their own language.
Future plans
The host church Pastor said: ‘There is a great need as many cannot afford to go to Bible colleges and this is an affordable alternative’, he explained. Only Level 1 of the Langham Preaching materials has been translated into Shona. There are plans to translate the resources into Ndebele, the second indigenous language of Zimbabwe spoken predominantly in the south.
