A historic church building in Scotland, previously used as a nightclub and cinema, is undergoing renovations so it can be used by worshippers once again.
St. David’s Bathgate, located in the West Lothian region between Edinburgh and Glasgow, was built in 1905 but closed its doors a century later in 2007 due to congregational decline.
Like many church buildings in Scotland, St. David’s had been repurposed for secular use before Centrepoint came along with a vision for its restoration. “The wider narrative in Scotland has been one of churches closing,” said Gordon Wright, Lead Pastor of Centrepoint Church, which purchased St. David’s in 2024. “But there seems to be something God is doing in the nation.”
