Serving as a woman in ministry is a privilege and a blessing, but it can be a lonely role – that’s why 30 women from churches across the UK gathered for three days for Thrive, coming together around God’s word for refreshment and support.
The Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC) Director for Women’s Ministry, Rachel Sloan, commented: “Thrive is a key way that FIEC seeks to equip women in ministry for the responsibilities God has called them to in the local church.”
Teaching was brought by Lizzy Smallwood, a ministry wife based in Cornwall, from the book of Haggai, with a time to pray and reflect on the teaching together in small groups, sharing how it applies to their own ministry lives.
Fernanda Curtis, Women’s Worker at Christ Church Cambourne in Cambridgeshire, said: “Thrive was everything I hoped for – and more. I left feeling refreshed, encouraged, and more focused on the Lord than ever. I’m already looking forward to next year’s conference!”
The picturesque surroundings of The Hayes in Derbyshire offered quiet spaces to rest and recharge. Mealtimes provided opportunities to develop friendships with other women through conversation and shared food.
“It was a joy to see the women leave feeling encouraged to keep focused on building God’s Kingdom,” Sloan added.
