Trauma was the topic at this year’s Biblical Counselling UK (BCUK) conference, attended by more than 300 people.

Ben Epps, Co-Pastor of Longmeadow Evangelical Church, Stevenage, told en that trauma is “deep, unprocessed pain caused by an overwhelming event.”

“It was particularly helpful to listen to stories of journeys through trauma and testimonies of Christ graciously meeting people in their distress,” he said.

“We also dwelt on portions of Job, delightfully applied without any theological shallowness. As Job’s friends should have known, trite answers are neither accurate nor helpful to those in distress. We rejoiced in the sovereignty of our faithful God and were humbled by the mystery of pain. As Job … God’s beauty and power can eclipse the ugliest situation and give hope.”

Speakers included Steve Midgley, Karen Sleeman, Laura Perbet (pictured), Ste Casey and Helen Thorne-Allenson.
