Oak Hill College is launching a new leadership programme to help church leaders handle the challenges that come with their roles and establish practices to help sustain them in ministry.
The MA in Contemporary Christian Leadership will be led by Dr Mark Stirling, a former medical doctor who pioneered the work of Navigators with university students in Edinburgh from 1998–2004.
Stirling also teaches at Highland Theological College and is director of the Chalmers Institute.
‘I’m hugely excited about this Masters in Contemporary Christian Leadership because I think that developing leaders who are Christ-like in character and whose behaviour and leadership is shaped by Christ’s character and example is the urgent priority right across the church,’ Stirling said.
The three- to four-year course is available to church and parachurch leaders located across the UK and internationally, and will include intensive residentials as well as online seminars and personal mentoring. Topics of study will range from church planting, revitalisation and extension, to global theology. ‘It’s very hard to be in leadership today,’ said Oak Hill principal, James Robson. ‘Often intervention into leadership only comes when things have gone wrong. This MA is designed to help you develop as a healthy, emotionally intelligent, Biblically faithful leader with others.’
