321… and lift off!

A fresh video explanation of the gospel is aiming to be a ‘Mere Christianity for the digital age’.

Twelve years ago, a little orange video made its way around the internet: 321, The Story of God, the World, and You. It was evangelistic organisation Speak Life’s endeavour to summarise the good news under three headings: THREE: God is a loving union of three - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. TWO: The world is shaped by two representatives, Adam and Jesus. ONE: You are born one with Adam, be one with Jesus.

Now it has been revamped and relaunched as a free eight-episode online resource.

Well-known evangelist, writer and communicator Glen Scrivener, director of Speak Life and presenter of 321, says: ‘Nowadays the way we explore any truth involves Googling the topic, falling down a “YouTube hole”, binging on podcasts, downloading an app, watching Netflix documentaries, or listening to audiobooks. This is how modern people immerse themselves in any subject, spiritual or not. It seems to me that we desperately need a Mere Christianity for the digital age.

‘321 aims to be a “Christianity 101” that makes sense to people in the way that modern people actually engage with the big issues. And it’s seeking to equip Christians with an evangelistic tool that can be shared without shame and without delay’.

Speak Life have reported that 50 churches have begun 321 as an evangelistic course, with many more engaging with it online. In early November, they heard from someone who had prayed to receive Jesus having completed the final session. In a voice note, the new believer told them:

'I woke up at 5:30 this morning, ready to go. That's not like me! I have so much energy. Everything is different, but it's not different. But it is. Do you know what I mean?'
