After a primary school in Croydon ran a ‘Pride’ event and some parents complained, one alleged in November that the school has been dismissive and retaliated by barring them from the school.
The ‘Proud To Be Me’ event, held by Heavers Farm Primary School, was billed as being for all children, and none could opt out.
At a meeting to discuss the issue with one family, one staff member – the daughter of the headteacher – confrontationally wore a T-shirt emblazoned with: ‘Why be racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic when you could just be quiet?’
Parents also say that they have been misled with incorrect statements of law when they challenged the school on the issue. Parents claim the school is forcing an aggressive LGBT agenda onto children in a manner which abuses parental rights and victimises parents.
Parent Izzy Montague challenged the school over its promotion of LGBT ideologies and was supported by ten other families. Appearing on TV and radio Izzy said: ‘I am a Christian and one of the parts of being Christian is that as a parent we have to lead our children to the right way to go... I just wanted my child to receive an education, rather than indoctrination.’
Another parent, Mrs Izoduwa Adhedo said: ‘It was like being bullied. They stopped treating me like any other parent, but were antagonistic towards me. I believe that they retaliated against me by unreasonably excluding me from the premises, victimising my child.’
