Over 200 people have now joined the Teaching English Network (TEN), a network for Christian English teachers to connect with speakers of other languages, founded by Friends International.
‘TEN has grown quickly! I think we’ve struck a chord with Christian language teachers’, said Bob Dawson, a founding member of TEN.
Many Christians involved with outreach to internationals have qualifications in teaching, but have never had a way to connect to other teachers until TEN.
New avenues
One member commented: ‘It has opened up new avenues for me in both helping other teachers and being supported by those with more experience than me. It’s great!’.
One success story was when, at short notice, a translator was found for a Thai wedding in Scotland! Unusual, but a great help for those concerned!
TEN aims to network Christian English language teachers, facilitate discussion and be a space for sharing resources.
‘There was a real need for support and a way to connect with each other – and now we can do that through this project’, said Bob Dawson.
Like all networks, its effectiveness depends on the active engagement of those who sign up to it, so that all can benefit. Friends International are looking for those interested in getting involved.
