I’m always on the lookout for new music to discover and songs to sing along to (whether at home or in church!).
As we move into the summer, many will face long car journeys – which are perfect times to fill with music that will lift your heart and soul to the Lord Jesus. Below are six recommendations with the briefest of commentaries!
- The Pressing In by Eliza King. Eliza King is an Australian singer-songwriter whose thoughtful lyrics and rich musical palette are the perfect accompaniment to a long summer’s evening.
- MATIN: Home by Jess Ray. This beautifully put together album is a reflective and searching album packed with stunning vocal performances from Jess.
- EAT by Brooke Ligertwood. Ligertwood built her writing ministry through her work at Hillsong Music (King of Kings, Man of Sorrows). However, her latest album EAT is a bold and innovative move. It is ten tracks of Scripture set to music – pulling this off is no mean feat, and some tracks here are simply remarkable.
- Asaph’s Arrows II – Kings Kaleidoscope Hymns. This was one of my favourite albums of 2025 – full of life, energy, surprise and joy.
- Sing the Bible, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 by Slugs and Bugs. If you have children under ten, Slugs and Bugs needs to be part of your life. Here is a ministry full of Scripture, that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is just a joy to have on in the car or house.
- Child of God II by Forrest Frank. Forrest Frank produces pop that feels contemporary and yet is filled with Christian truth that permeates his life and ministry. Not everyone’s cup of tea – but try it on your pre-teens / teenagers.
