One of the tests of the clarity of our thinking is our ability to explain things in such a way that a child can understand it.
Christian communicators do well to be aware of good Christian books for children. Often such books combine Biblical concepts expressed in fresh and simple ways with artwork that captures the imagination.
This beautifully illustrated book is a good example of this. I Can’t Believe my Eyes tells the story of a boy who asks his dad if God is real. Instead of giving an abstract answer, the dad takes him outside to fly a kite.
Experiencing the wind that has a demonstrable impact on everything around it but is invisible, is used as a way into understanding who God is through the things He has made. The story is told with clarity and simplicity; a child could grasp it – which means that anyone could.
The book concludes with two pages on how parents might use this book with their children.
This book reminded me of the importance of taking every question seriously and learning to find imaginative ways to effectively answer the questioner.
