Creating a climate of prayer

GREEN CHRISTIAN

Green Christian (GC) describes itself as: ‘A group of ordinary Christians from all backgrounds and traditions. Inspired by our faith, we do what we can to care for Creation through prayer, living simply, public witness, campaigning and mutual encouragement.’

GC is a group of like-minded Christians who want to look after God’s creation. You don’t need to look far in the media to see the effect mankind has had on the planet. GC however, want to care for what God has entrusted to us.

Their aim is simple. To reduce the strain on the earth’s resources by living as simply as they can and imploring others to do likewise. and praying for others to do the same. They offer prayers, hymns and even workshops to educate on climate issues.

I’m not much bothered by climate issues. However, I must say that on my recent trip to America I was shocked at the amount of single-use items – drinking straws, lids, cups, packaging – which seemed to be everywhere you looked.

With the negative press received by protestors such as Just Stop Oil (probably due to their methods), it is a breath of fresh air (pun intended) that there are Christians who are taking a united, prayerful, and godly stance on these issues. If we really are to see a change in our climate we truly will need God’s intervention.
