Whether you’re a pastor in the Majority World*, with all the busyness of a pastor’s ministry, or a supporter of Equipping Pastors Worldwide (EPW) with the challenges of daily life, the need to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus is paramount.

EPW, recently born from a merger of the Pastor Training International and Christian Books Worldwide charities, have launched a ten-part series (posted fortnightly) on Matthew’s Gospel.

Rather than another commentary on the first Gospel in the New Testament, EPW offers a fresh way to read through and lean into each chapter.

The blog I read on chapter one gave three points to take away. While not a commentary, the blog is rich with information and reflection. It takes much more of a journal entry/storytelling form.

The blog’s main aim is to keep Jesus front and centre. It certainly does that. As a pastor myself, I never tire of studying Scripture, but sometimes wish commentaries could be more accessible. Many of our trusted commentaries are hundreds of years old and do not always read easily. However, EPW have bridged a gap which many have sought to cross.

I am looking forward to seeing if EPW will produce more of these blogs for other books of the Bible. 

* Majority World refers to areas in which most of the world’s population, natural resources and landmass are located, but are often economically poorer.
