THIRTY THOUSAND DAYS:
The Journey Home to God

The simplest way to give an idea of the contents of this encouraging book is to list the chapter headings: See Eternally, Worship Wholeheartedly, Walk Purposefully, Care Passionately, Give Generously, Hold Loosely, Love Deeply, Stand Firm, Choose Light, Rest, Unhooked and Unhindered, Home.
Catherine Morgan weaves together Bible truth, examples from her own journey and quotes from writers well known for their ability to whet our appetites for eternity (C.S. Lewis, Joni Eareckson Tada…) in an exuberant style that is at times almost breathless. She reminds us that godly living is so much more than rule keeping, that Jesus offers us joy, freedom and abundance in place of the pretended value of busyness and other people’s opinions.
At the end of the book are group study guides based on each chapter, which would make it ideal for a Christian book group. I think the author’s style would appeal more to women than men, although the content is needed by both! This reviewer has already lived two thirds of the allotted 30,000 days and wishes she had understood some of these issues rather earlier in the journey than she has!
