THE GRACE OF GIVING (The Didasko Files)
By John Stott
The Lausanne Movement. 24 pages. £1.99 from http://www.10ofthose.com
ISBN 978-1-899464-01-2

With talk of the credit crunch and dark murmurings of global recession, it is a good time for Christians to be thinking biblically about money in general and giving in particular. By all accounts, giving is not going to get any easier in the months ahead. The new release of this booklet is therefore welcome and timely — and being a booklet it’s not going to cost much!

John Stott gives us ten principles of Christian giving, which takes the form of an exposition of 2 Corinthians 8-9 and, from it, he winsomely demonstrates that Christian giving is bound up with our view of the gospel. All the Stott hallmarks are here: clarity of thought, careful exegesis, and pastoral application. He concludes by saying that in working through the material he has reviewed and raised his own giving, and hopes his readers may do likewise. Christians may want to go deeper than this, but this is an excellent primer on Christian giving. It deserves the widest readership.
