‘At least 11 churches’ affected in Nepal flood tragedy
Luke Randall
Relief efforts continue at pace as Nepal recovers from devastating flash floods which have seen more than 70 Christians numbered among around 1,000 killed, and 75 more numbered among the thousands missing.
The disaster, believed to have been caused by a melted glacier, saw many communities hammered by floodwaters, with mud, rock and debris brought down by the waters leaving entire villages swept away and buried underground. The Nepalese government is coordinating relief efforts but ruined infrastructure, including roads and bridges, as well as ongoing flood warning alerts, make rescue efforts challenging.
Asia: Bible translation and distribution progress
Lydia Houghton
The Trinitarian Bible Society’s (TBS’) work translating, publishing, and distributing Bibles and evangelical texts spans continents. The countries of Nepal and Myanmar, and the state of Karnataka in South India are just some of the places TBS is working to translate God’s Word into people’s heart languages.
Nepal
“The need is very great in Nepal,” says TBS. More than 120 languages are spoken in the country, and many are without their own translation of the Bible.
