Are people more spiritually open than we think?

“People just aren’t interested in the gospel.” It’s a familiar refrain, often voiced with a weary sigh in church coffee queues and leaders’ meetings alike.

In what feels like an increasingly secular society, it can seem as though faith has slipped firmly to the margins. But is that really the case?

Is anyone actually interested in hearing the gospel?

One of the most encouraging insights to emerge from London City Mission’s (LCM) Everyday Evangelism podcast is that our perceptions may be badly out of step with reality. In the episode Well, No One’s Interested, Are They?, Rachel Jordan-Wolf, Executive Director of Hope Together, shared research to stop us in our tracks... When an everyday Christian strikes up a conversation with a non-Christian about faith, around one in three say they would like to know more about Jesus. Not hostile. Not closed. Curious.
