This month marks the anniversary of the founding of Evangelicals Now. As we look back, we are thankful to God for the vision of Bob Horn and John Benton and many others who enabled this publication to begin its journey those four decades ago.
An anniversary such as this can prompt any publication, including a Christian one, to be self-indulgent, or to give itself glory or to become self-congratulatory. It is our hope and prayer that we avoid these perils and pitfalls.
On the centre pages of this edition of the print newspaper, we have asked a whole variety of evangelical figures to reflect on the last 40 years and to share something of the changes and challenges they have seen for evangelicals in our part of the world, and the changes and challenges for mission both locally and globally. We hope their insights and wisdom are helpful. [You can read their insights on our website, here.]
What else can be said in an editorial such as this? Hebrews 12v2 encourages us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Above all else in this editorial column on this 40th anniversary, we want to encourage you to fix your eyes afresh on Him. Please pray for us as a publication that we too will fix our eyes on Him and do everything for Him, with Him, conscious of Him, and prayerfully alongside Him. Thank you so much for your partnership in the gospel. As we go forward, let us continue to look to Jesus wholly and completely. Amen.
