Seven million members of the global church have gathered in person and online to worship, pray, and hear testimonies of what God is doing all around the world.
Gather25 was the first event of its kind, using AI and technology to bring Christians from 225 countries and territories together for a 25-hour gathering of the church.
During the event, live sessions were streamed from the UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, Romania, Rwanda, Peru, and the US, and translated into 87 languages in real time, while 21,000 other groups met in churches and homes around the globe.
The event website says: “For 25 hours, Gather25 invited believers across the world to pray, repent, worship, and discover how the love of Jesus is transforming the world through everyday people.”
Among the participants were 117,000 prison inmates in the US who were able to join the gathering via the PandoApp from God Behind Bars, as well as Christians from scientific bases in Antarctica who met together in the Chapel of the Snows.
On its website, gather25.com, the statement of faith says: “We believe the God of the Universe reveals and defines Himself through His Word. We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are verbally inspired by God, fully trustworthy and of supreme and final authority in what they say … We believe God is holy, but man rebelled and is separated from God. We believe Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection atoned for sin, and God’s forgiveness can be received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.”
Among the more than 80 partner organisations listed are: Wycliffe Bible Translators; the World Evangelical Alliance; Pioneer Bible Translators; Operation Mobilisation; The American Bible Society; and Bible Gateway.
