Church role highlighted in £1.5bn community plan

£1.5 billion will be set aside for 75 communities across the UK. These include: Wrexham in Wales; Dumfries in Scotland; and Torquay in England.

The Plan for Neighbourhoods fund is to form part of the government’s community cohesion strategy from spring 2026.

The government hopes, among other things, to produce more areas with “stronger social capital” to encourage “higher educational attainment, lower crime and faster economic growth".
