Because remote Karimui has no roads to connect people to the rest of Papua New Guinea, the only way villagers can obtain Bibles is to get them from the back of an MAF aircraft.
Pastor Kimin Mauwe, the community-appointed agent for Christian aviation charity MAF, began ministry in Karimui 33 years ago. For the past 32 years, he’s served MAF by providing weather reports and preparing passengers and cargo for travel.

The people of Grand Cess in south-eastern Liberia say they’re happy to see Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) planes again.
According to acting MAF Country Director, Leon Prinsloo: “We’re not just landing planes, we’re opening doors. MAF is committed to serving the most isolated, and Grand Cess is a clear example of how aviation can break barriers to healthcare, education and hope.”

The King has helped the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) mark its 80th anniversary by unveiling the organisation’s latest aircraft.
Pressing a button, His Majesty – who learned to fly with the RAF – raised the hangar doors at RAF Northolt, London, to reveal the latest addition to MAF’s fleet – a new Cessna 208 Caravan. The Christian organisation, which has a worldwide fleet of about 115 light aircraft, will now have 11 planes serving Papua New Guinea’s people.

Growing up in Dodomona, in the Middle Fly District of Western Province, PNG, Titus Yabua witnessed many members of his community dying from treatable illnesses, accidents, snakebites and pig bites.
Jack Hemmings, pioneer pilot, dies aged 103

Jack Hemmings, who has died at the age of 103, was co-founder of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), the largest humanitarian airline in the world.
In 1945 Jack, an RAF Squadron Leader tasked with protecting the Bay of Bengal from Japanese invasion, read an article advocating the need to use planes to ‘carry messengers of peace and to unload cargoes of blessing’. As RAF Flight Lieutenant Murray Kendon wrote: ‘Instead of spreading destruction and death why should [aircraft] not now spread life and healing by that message wherein lie the seeds of peace and power?’

A South Sudanese pastor is rejoicing – two years after a honey-harvesting accident left him facing a lifetime of pain.
