An app for women learning and living

FIRST 5
www.first5.org

On their website, First 5 say: ‘In a world where noise is loud, we need a place to quietly learn God’s word so we can apply and share the Truth. Here’s your starting place. Know the Truth. Live the Truth. It changes everything.’

Even if it shouldn’t be this way, finding spare time to study God’s word can be a struggle for many. Some, due to circumstances, may only find time to grab five or ten minutes a day to meditate on Scripture.

First 5 aim to bring bite-sized yet deep studies of books of the Bible. The current plan is 1 Timothy. However, you can choose to engage and study another book that is available.

Lysa TerKeurst is the visionary behind the app. TerKeurst is President and Chief Visionary Officer of Proverbs 31 Ministries. She is also a six-times New York Times’ bestselling author.

Although it’s not made clear on the website at first glance, this app is aimed at women. All of the contributors are women, and the studies have a female leaning. There are paid plans for newer material, but the majority of the plans are available for free.

There is an option to comment or add ‘My Moment’ onto a study. In reading these comments, you gain a sense that those who use this app are in a community of sorts. There is engagement in conversation and encouragement.

The app itself is clean, modern, and easy to navigate with no unnecessary frills. This is an app I definitely will be recommending to my wife.
