This podcast is by the Evangelical Movement of Wales and is designed to help church leaders.
It describes itself as an honest discussion of Biblical, pastoral and practical issues to support and encourage gospel-focused pastors and leaders.
The episode I am reviewing here is titled Overcoming Difficulties in Prayer Part 1. The host does not introduce himself until the end but is joined by Stuart Olyott. Olyott has been a pastor in Wales, the UK, and pioneering new churches in both France and Switzerland. He is now semi-retired and continues his work from his home in Liverpool.
The point is well made that all of us struggle with prayer periodically through our walk with Jesus. And this happens also with those in leadership. As someone in church leadership myself, prayer is not always easy. Sometimes prayer feels like walking through treacle!
Olyott makes a great point that prayer is ‘telling God everything that is on your heart in that moment’. And points us wonderfully to the Psalms where King David often reveals all to us when speaking to God.
This fatherly, pastoral advice is presented in allegory and more importantly Biblical context. Olyott speaks of the joy and adventure set before one who is in Christ.
Should the other episodes in this series continue in the same vein, this podcast will be a help to many, not just those in church leadership or just Wales.
