Global Anglicans tell Church in Wales leaders to 'turn back from their error'

Leaders of the Church in Wales "have shown their determination to continue to wander from the truth of God's Word" says the Global Anglican Council.

In a statement issued on the 17th of April, Laurent Mbanda, Chairman of the Global Anglican Council - formerly known as the Gafcon Primates Council - called on Church in Wales leaders "to turn back from their error and 'to choose this day' whom they will serve", citing Joshua 24v15.

Towards the end of November last year, the bishops of the Church in Wales (part of the Anglican Communion) released a pastoral letter outlining their roadmap for the full authorisation of same-sex blessings – and then the introduction of same-sex marriage within the denomination.

Orthodox Anglicans around the world are reacting with dismay after the election of the new Archbishop of Wales, Cherry Vann, who is openly in a same-sex relationship.

The Biblically orthodox Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) called Vann’s election “another painful nail in the coffin of Anglican orthodoxy.”
