According to their website, the Bible Memory App is the only complete Bible memory system that makes it easy for you to memorise, organise, and review verses.
On opening the app for the first time you are offered a paid upgrade to their PRO subscription, which costs £8.99 plus and an additional £7.00 for each Bible translation. The PRO version boasts ‘no ads, unlimited verses, audio review, flashcards, heat maps and much more!’
Without paying for a subscription, you are only given the option to memorise with the King James Version. For me at least, this would be an incentive to try another app that may have the ESV, CSB or NIV as a free choice.
Next, you are asked to register or do that later. The advantage of registering is that it will save your memorised verses and you can log in online to their website and all the verses you memorise will be recorded together.
This app is user-friendly throughout and walks you through how it works every time you tap something you haven’t gone on before. Memorised verses are underlined and in different colours depending on their ‘review status’. There is also the facility to make notes on each verse memorised.
The app creators claim that the verses are memorised quickly due to their three-area approach:
• Kinesthetic Memory: type the first letter of each word in a verse to quickly memorise it in a proven, three-step memorisation process, type it – memorise it – master it
• Visual Memory: draw pictures and use flash cards (PRO features). An animated word-emphasis feature accentuates each word to ingrain it into your memory.
• Auditory Memory: record verse audio and playback for hands-free review (PRO feature)
The format and approach to learning the verse(s) may not be for everyone but I would recommend that all at least give the free version of this app a try!
