After
the House of Bishops
issued
a
statement reiterating biblical marriage, it
was apologised for by the archbishops of
Canterbury and York on 30 January.
The apology (which did not mention the
Bible once in 35 paragraphs) referenced the
‘division and hurt [it] caused’. Many bishops
had complained, as they are keen to see
marriage embrace more than male+female
relationships. They reiterated a commitment
to the Living in Love and Faith project as
the bishops ‘discern the way forward’ for the Church of England (see p.16).

Parents will no longer have the right to

the
Welsh Government confirmed in January.
Education Minister Kirsty Williams
said the move would be tested next year
before becoming statutory when the new

in 2022. She said a

representing
faith
communities
would be met with to develop a
‘shared
understanding’ and ‘address concerns’ about the curriculum.
