  • Bullied off at Oxford

    The Christian Institute

An abortion debate organised in mid-November by an Oxford University pro-life student group was cancelled, after a planned protest was said to threaten security.

Christ Church College retracted permission to host the debate, which was due to feature two prominent journalists speaking for and against abortion, but critics have said the police should have been informed to prevent intimidation of the debate. Ann Furedi, chair of the biggest UK abortion provider, supported the right of the debate to go ahead.

  • Couch potato Christians

    Christians In Sport

A poll published in mid-November, says Christians prefer the armchair to arm weights.

The online poll of nearly 2,000 adult Christians across the UK found that only a quarter of Christians play sport (25.8%) once a week. This is 10% less than the general public. One in ten Christians think that sport is ‘an idol that many people worship in society today’. Over half of those questioned said it is fine to play sport on a Sunday, with many churches offering alternative services for those people playing a sport on a Sunday.
