John Stott’s last speaking engagement before retiring from public ministry was at the 2007 Keswick Convention.
At the age of 86, he spoke about becoming more like Christ at an evening that was memorable for all who were there. This book brings together Stott’s last ever public address and also contains an interview with Brian Draper of the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, together with tributes from Jonathan Lamb (International Programme Director of Langham Preaching) and Peter Maiden (Chair of the Council of Keswick Trustees).
John Stott’s influence has been incalculable. He has been variously described as ‘the most respected clergyman in the world today’ and ‘in effect the theological leader of world evangelicalism’. The sermon is classic Stott — beautifully crafted, well-ordered and biblically grounded. Like all true masters, he makes it look so easy. The result is an attractively produced book but the content is inevitably patchy. The questions are who is it for? And what’s the point? As a gift, it would make a good introduction to the teaching and ministry of John Stott. But a more fitting tribute to the ministry of this magnificent servant would be The Cross of Christ.
